Master Bedroom Redecorating

My husband and I just upgraded our queen size bed to a king.  It is so nice and roomy and of course with a new size bed comes the need for new bedding.  This kind of project is right up my alley.
I spent months agonizing over how I wanted my new bed to look.  I shopped all of the stores in Salt Lake, perused many a blog and finally decided I had to go with PINK!  It is my favorite color but the one catch was getting Clark's permission.  I don't know too many men who get excited about sleeping in pink bedding.  But he is very easy going when it comes to how I want to decorate the house so he told me to go for it.  I love that he goes along with all of my pink ideas.
I already had the throw pillows (the pink rose pillow came from T.J. Maxx and the maroon one came from a home decor store that no longer exists).  The sheets and bed skirt I found at Target.  And my favorite part of the ensemble, the bedspread, came from this website I found on "The House of Smith's" Blog.  Shelley always finds the most amazing quilts and she was giving out sources so I had to jump on buying one.
The quilt can reverse to a solid pink.  I love to have options.
I love that the sheets coordinate with my accent wall perfectly.  Well, this is the big project I have been working on lately.  Hope you got some good ideas if you are looking to update your bedroom soon.

What I got for Christmas

Sorry for the leave of absence. Add the chaos of the holidays to being sick for three weeks and you get a lot of down time with no blogging going on. Even though it's a bit late, I wanted to share the fun things I got for Christmas. My friends and family know I only want home decor things and that is indeed what I got. The two glass vases came from Hobby Lobby from my sister-in-law. I am visualizing what I want to fill them with as a summer centerpiece. I have a MAJOR thing for glass.
I got a silver charger from Hobby Lobby to accent my ornament centerpiece. I found the candlestick at T.J. Maxx for $5. LOVE T.J. Maxx. Plus I got some SUPER soft sheets on sale from T.J. Maxx as well.
This little house is a candle. It was a gift from my Mom. I found the glass dish at Hobby Lobby to protect the wood from the heat.
I finally learned the correct pronunciation of "carafe" over the holidays (thanks Mom). I don't care how you say it I love all carafes.
On the way to church the other day. Thank heavens for later church. Yes, the tree is still up on January 9. I guess I didn't play it normal this year like I had planned. I'm going to leave it up until March this year. That's just how I roll.
This jacket is from my husband. It was a steal from J.C. Penney with the rewards I had saved up. I love the texture and the ruffled front. It's business attire with a feminine flare.

I absolutely ADORE birds. This little guy came from the bishop's wife. He is the cutest little thing I have ever seen. Thanks Barb!
Can't get enough of the jacket. It is so warm too.
My Mother-in-law got me some mixing bowls. I don't cook much so I turned them into home decor items too.
My favorite ornaments that were a pre-Christmas gift from my husband. He knows I love Pottery Barn.

I didn't get to do much holiday baking so this was my alternative for the mixing bowl. I wanted to make Fantasy Fudge as a New Year's gift to the neighbors but my plan was foiled when I went to pre-heat the oven the other night and the coil exploded and knocked the power to our whole home out. That led to a call to the Power company who quickly came out to help. Then two hours later the power to the whole town went out. I think the power company was getting tired of hearing from me. I guess I learned my lesson, and I will just stay out of the kitchen. Hope you are all enjoying the calm of the new year. :)

My Fun Anniversary Gifts

My husband and I just celebrated our tenth anniversary in August. He knows that instead of an expensive trip, new clothes, or an expensive dinner out I would rather splurge on home decor. Here are the fun things I got to decorate my house with for our 10th.

The pillows and shower curtain came from T.J. Maxx. The rugs and towels came from J.C. Penney. All of this came to just under $200 plus I joined the J.C. Penney rewards program for free and got a $10 gift certificate sent to me in the mail. I went back and got matching wash cloths for $2. J.C. Penney has some amazing sales and the prices at T.J. Maxx are always phenomenal.

A fun shopping trip

Shhh! Don't tell anyone but I took another day off from blogging. Today I decided since I needed new black socks for myself and my husband I would do a little window shopping. I got the "necessities" (socks) at Target and then it was on to the fun stuff.

Since I was already in Target I had to go check out their new home decor section. This is the Target in Cottonwood Heights on Park Centre Drive. They remodeled their store a while ago and I have never gotten to fully explore. And explore I did. They had the softest blanket that I wanted so bad for my bed. It was soooo soft and my favorite color (sage green) but the price tag was not going to be so wallet friendly...$50. So I moved on and saw some cute pre-made spring wreaths and glass home decor ideas. They had these little silver metal candle holders that reminded me of a tin can with little holes poked through all over. Put a little candle down inside and watch the light twinkle polka dots on your walls. These were more reasonably priced. But I refrained again.

Next stop was World Market. This is in the same shopping center as Target. They had some interesting picture frames, carafes for $5.00 for flower arrangements, interesting materials for vase fillers, and some beautiful plates and dishes. Again, I reminded myself this was just a window shopping trip and had fun just looking for new ideas.

And the last stop was the T.J. Maxx right around the corner. Going into this store is dangerous for me. The deals are so good and the quality so high I almost always HAVE to buy something. I found the cutest sage green shower curtain with navy blue polka dots in the clearance section for $10. This was originally priced at $25. I found some matching Ralph Lauren sage green towels that matched the shower curtain perfectly and a Ralph Lauren rug that was luxurious. Everything together would have come to $50. What a steal for my favorite color and brands! But my fun was in the find and I ended up leaving empty handed from there too. This is my version of catch and release fishing. I love the thrill of the hunt but I don't want to kill my budget.

I really need to start bringing my camera along and documenting all of my "real life" shopping finds. I do a daily Etsy find on my Facebook page which is my outlet for online shopping. I'm thinking I will start featuring my Etsy finds on this blog too.

Stay tuned for my finds and the ideas that go along with each treasure. Happy Hunting.
