Fall Home Decor

It's that time of year again when the temps start to cool off and it's time to start thinking about pumpkins.  I still love these pumpkins I found at Wal-Mart last year.
This is new this year.  I found the wheat and the carafe at Hobby Lobby.  Nothing says Fall like wheat.
I put my twig/vine balls out again this year with some decorative garland thrown in the bottom of this wire bowl I still love.

I took this old Gold Canyon Candle jar and threw some assorted pearls inside.  Found the pearls at Michael's for cheap.
I found these mung beans at Michael's as well.  The bowl was a gift.  I like the colors together.  It says Fall to me.

And last but not least, I took my white pitcher from Michael's and put some brown eucalyptus inside.  My birthday was this week so I decided to decorate my house as a gift to myself.  My sister got me a fun gift that will be another blog post.  Happy Fall Y'all!

Invitations and Earrings

I finally got around to taking some pics of the projects I've been working on.  These are some invitations I created for a ward wedding shower.
Here are some earrings I created when I had some extra time because I was in and out of our small town Driver's License Division in 10 minutes.  Got to love small town living.
Another pair of earrings I created that would be good for a wedding I think.

Summer is winding down.  My side of the family had a fun family Barb-B-Que up the canyon this past Saturday.  All of the new baby second cousins got to meet for the first time.  It was the cutest thing ever.

The fun of being a nanny

Wow!  It's been a while since my last blog post.  My sister has gone back to work and needed someone to watch her new baby girl during the day.  So I have now become a nanny to add to all of my other projects I have going on right now in my life.  I have been trying to keep up with a 6 month old and commuting 45 minutes each way.  Life is crazy right now.  But it is a lot of fun too.  Making a baby laugh is the best.  Hopefully I can get back to blogging soon.  I just made more wedding shower invitations for a ward shower and I have been making and selling my light bulb earrings and necklaces through word of mouth.  So I'm keeping my creative juices flowing.  Now I just need to get some pictures up.

Getting the last little bit out of the lotion bottle

Everyone knows that I am a penny pincher.  I like to get the most for my money.  Even the last little bit of lotion in the bottle that won't come out of the pump drives me nuts to just throw away.  So the other day I found an easy solution to my problem.  I had these little tupperware containers just sitting around so I decided to put them to good use.  Just take the pump out of the lotion bottle, turn the bottle upside down, let the lotion drain out for a few hours and voila...the last little bit of lotion is in a container that you can get your fingers into easily.

I think this little bit of lotion will be perfect for some nightly foot rubs.  It's a ritual around here while Clark and I watch our favorite shows on Netflix.  Ahh, heavenly!

Master Bedroom Redecorating

My husband and I just upgraded our queen size bed to a king.  It is so nice and roomy and of course with a new size bed comes the need for new bedding.  This kind of project is right up my alley.
I spent months agonizing over how I wanted my new bed to look.  I shopped all of the stores in Salt Lake, perused many a blog and finally decided I had to go with PINK!  It is my favorite color but the one catch was getting Clark's permission.  I don't know too many men who get excited about sleeping in pink bedding.  But he is very easy going when it comes to how I want to decorate the house so he told me to go for it.  I love that he goes along with all of my pink ideas.
I already had the throw pillows (the pink rose pillow came from T.J. Maxx and the maroon one came from a home decor store that no longer exists).  The sheets and bed skirt I found at Target.  And my favorite part of the ensemble, the bedspread, came from this website I found on "The House of Smith's" Blog.  Shelley always finds the most amazing quilts and she was giving out sources so I had to jump on buying one.
The quilt can reverse to a solid pink.  I love to have options.
I love that the sheets coordinate with my accent wall perfectly.  Well, this is the big project I have been working on lately.  Hope you got some good ideas if you are looking to update your bedroom soon.

Salt Lake City Gem Faire

Here is the first pair of earrings I designed and created all on my own.  I attended the Gem Faire at the South Towne Expo Center in Sandy, Utah.  They have this event a couple of times a year here in Utah and they also have the same event in San Diego, CA; Portland, OR; San Rafael, CA; Lynden, WA; Eugene, OR; Hillsboro, OR; Sacramento, CA; Costa Mesa, CA and a few other locations.

The Gem Faire is one of the largest gem and jewelry shows in the United States.  They have about 50 shows a year along the west coast and some areas of the Midwest.  I was overwhelmed at how many beads were in one place.  Talk about sensory overload.  But I was like a little kid in a candy store.  I had so much fun going through every type of bead and finding you could ever imagine.  They had some really good deals on jewelry tools too.  They offer quality merchandise at manufacturer's prices because you are buying from the source.  Here is their website for any of you who might be interested in attending. The next one in Utah will be September 21,22, and 23.  The hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m.  If you don't get a free ticket through their website, the price of admission for the weekend pass is $7. It was so much FUN!

Jewelry making tutorial

Here are a pair of earrings that my sister-in-law and I made together.  She was so nice and gave me a little tutorial in person on how to make jewelry.
I came up with the turquoise blue and yellow part of the earring below and she added the topaz teardrop parts.  The yellows might not match perfectly but we were using what we already had and I was learning the technique.
This is a watch she and I created together.  Learning the stringing technique was a lot of fun.  Of course, turquoise is one of my favorite colors.

This is a neutral tone watch my sister-in-law put together for my sister.

Here is another earring in progress.
This is one I created on my own.  I can't decide which look I like best.
I love learning new creative arts.  I'm going to pursue this one and try to get better at it.  Creativity is so much fun!
